Basic Flight Instructor Training

Step 1

The student will learn the knowledge areas required for private and commercial pilot certification and learn the fundamentals of instructing in single-engine land airplanes. The student will obtain the instructional knowledge required to teach these subjects including the recognition, analysis, and correction of common student errors.

Step 2

The student will learn the principles of planning and organizing flight and ground training lessons. The student will acquire practical experience by conducting practice training lessons. The student will learn the responsibilities required of a flight instructor, including authorized instruction.

The student will acquire the instructional knowledge of the elements of each of the maneuvers and procedures for private and commercial pilots including the recognition, analysis and correction of common student errors. The student will be able to prepare a lesson plan for each flight and will be able to conduct the flight according to the planned lesson, including effective preflight and postflight instruction.
