Now in our sixth
year of pushing for an IFR—GPS approach, the approval is in
sight. The Airport has been assigned it’s own frequency which
will communicates to the ARTCC and then relay on to Seattle
Approach. The Approach/Departure frequency and approach should be published by May of 2007. |

are repairs is the 300 feet of runway which has settled over the years.
This area was removed and the sub area built up so the runway does not
sink again. The runway received a complete overlay and two hold aprons
constructed on the northeast connector. |

The
FAA is requiring edge drains be installed the full length of the runway
edges. This is to help “pull” water away from the asphalt
extending it’s life and subsurface. The main challenge was the usable
length of the runway and the amount of time the runway was closed.

Flying Program Overview In support of the program, Auburn
Flight Service facilitates the operation of limited liability corporations
owned by the members for the purpose of providing aircraft for personal
or business use. Aircraft currently in the program include a Piper
Turbo Arrow and a Piper Warrior. A typical aircraft, owned by the individuals in the program, flies for $45 per hour and about $100 per month. The flight charge covers the expense of operation and maintenance and the monthly charge covers fixed costs such as hanger and insurance. Purchasing an aircraft is made simple. As an example, a 1/6th share costs $10,000, add to that the refundable security deposit of $1,000 and you can be an owner of a $60,000 airplane for less than most people spend on a second car.
